On April 15, 2019, Casey Daugherty, a 32-year-old woman from Etowah, Tennessee, tragically died from a gunshot wound. According to the McMinn County Sheriff's Office, Casey was brought to Starr Athens Hospital by her fiancé, Kajan Witt, and Witt's father, John A Witt. The incident was initially reported as an accidental shooting. Investigators conducted interviews and executed a search warrant at the business on County Road 609, where the shooting occurred.
