In the quiet landscape of Warren County, Tennessee, the life of Dennis Carter, a 65-year-old white male from nearby Grundy County, was tragically cut short on the night of June 1, 2019. Carter, a man connected to the community through his membership in the Rebel motorcycle group, was fatally shot outside the club's building on Pike Hill Road. The incident shattered the evening's calm and set in motion a homicide investigation that would soon lead to the arrests of three of his fellow club
members.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement began to piece together the events of that fatal night. Their investigation led them to identify three individuals from within Carter's own circle of the motorcycle group as suspects. The first to be taken into custody was 27-year-old Kate Prichard, who was charged with criminal homicide. Soon after, a second suspect, 53-year-old Timothy Baer of Murfreesboro, was also arrested and faced the same charge. The pursuit of justice did not end there, as a third member, 65-year-old John Cherry, also from Murfreesboro, was later apprehended and charged with criminal homicide in connection with Carter's death.

Following the shooting, Dennis Carter was airlifted from McMinnville to Erlanger Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
