had been reportedly following him. The encounter escalated with terrifying speed, ending when Driver was shot twice in the chest.
The shooting left a beloved husband and motorcycle enthusiast dead and his family searching for answers that have been slow to come. Witnesses reported the dispute with the occupant of the other vehicle, but the car and its driver vanished, leaving a void in the investigation. In the immediate aftermath and the weeks that followed, no new leads emerged, and the case grew cold, compounding the grief of his loved ones.
In the years since the fatal shooting, Tonya Driver has been a vocal advocate for justice for her husband, calling for an increased police presence and the installation of surveillance cameras along the interstates to prevent similar tragedies. Carey Driver's death was one of at least ten interstate shootings in Memphis that year, highlighting a disturbing trend of violence on the city's thoroughfares.
