In the early morning hours of January 24, 2020, the life of Dessie Lewis Seaton IV, a 26-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short in Knoxville, Tennessee. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Seaton was residing in Knoxville at the time of his death. Shortly before 1 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers were dispatched to the Southland Apartments on Sevier Avenue following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Seaton in the kitchen of one of the apartments, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
