In the spring of 2020, the life of a promising young man, Jevon Battle, was tragically cut short on a street in Nashville, Tennessee. A former football player at Station Camp High School, the 19-year-old was remembered for a smile that could illuminate any room. On the evening of May 4, 2020, Jevon was visiting with his cousins at their home on 17th Avenue North.
A conversation about a trip to a nearby market arose, and Jevon mentioned he was going to make a marijuana purchase before
they left. He departed from his cousins' home, walking down the street to meet someone. Shortly after he left, the sound of gunshots pierced the night air. Responding to a call at approximately 8:30 p.m., police discovered Jevon lying in the street near the intersection of 16th Avenue North and Century Street, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into Jevon Battle's death was launched by the North Precinct detectives of the Metro Nashville Police Department. Despite their efforts and pleas to the public for information, the case grew cold. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide, a source of enduring pain for his family and friends who continue to seek justice for Jevon.
