In a tragic turn of events on a summer evening in Memphis, Tennessee, 21-year-old Michael Phillips lost his life in a fatal shooting. The incident, which unfolded on June 19, 2020, was the culmination of a rolling dispute between the occupants of two vehicles.
The conflict began around 5 p.m. as the two cars traveled through the Northaven area. It is reported that the exchange escalated after gang signs were allegedly displayed by individuals in one of the vehicles. The verbal altercation soon turned deadly when shots were fired from one car into the other at the intersection of Northaven Drive and N. Circle Road. Michael Phillips, a passenger in the targeted vehicle, was struck multiple times.
Following the shooting, the driver of the car carrying Phillips sped away from the scene, eventually meeting with police and paramedics at North Watkins and Corning. Despite their efforts, Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim was born on December 19, 1998.
