In the early morning hours of August 30, 2020, Robert Darian Williams, a 34-year-old Black / African American man, was fatally shot in Union City, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 2:23 a.m. outside of Club 1 Hunnid on North First Street. When Union City Police officers arrived at the scene following reports of multiple gunshots, they discovered Williams unresponsive in the roadway.
He was immediately transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Known for his bright and contagious smile, Robert was a beloved figure in his community, recognized for his loyalty and humor. He attended Union City High School and later earned his GED, building a career marked by several certifications. By all accounts, he was a devoted family man, leaving behind his wife, Desirae Williams, and their two children, Chance and Carter. Friends and family remember him as a giving and humble person who was always there for those he loved.
The investigation into his death was launched by the Union City Police Department and remains ongoing. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward and have provided contact information for the police department and Crime Stoppers. To date, no arrests have been publicly announced, and no suspects have been officially named in connection with the shooting.
