In the early morning hours of October 12, 2020, the life of 26-year-old DeMario Sheree Lowery, a Black male from Detroit, Michigan, was tragically cut short in Knoxville, Tennessee. Just before 1 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a call in the Lonsdale Homes apartment complex on Texas Avenue. There, they discovered a Chrysler 300 that had crashed into a parked Ford Expedition. Inside the Chrysler, they found Lowery, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation suggested a violent encounter that ended in Lowery's death. A witness reported seeing a Black male wearing a white shirt and red shorts fleeing from the vehicle before police arrived. This individual remains unidentified. The Knoxville Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit has been actively investigating the homicide, but as of now, the case remains unsolved.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death of DeMario Sheree Lowery, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. The Knoxville Police Department continues to seek clues that may lead to a resolution in this case and provide answers for Lowery's family.
