In the early morning hours of June 7, 2020, in Knoxville, Tennessee, a sequence of events unfolded that would tragically end the life of 30-year-old Darryl Florence, an African-American man known to his loved ones as 'D. Flo'. The scene was the parking lot of a Red Roof Inn located in the 1300 block of Kirby Road in West Knoxville. It was there that Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a call around 4:20 a.m. concerning a man who had been shot and was inside a vehicle.
