In the summer of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Memphis, Tennessee, over what witnesses described as a dispute involving a mere five dollars. ZaQune London LaQuelle Harris, an 18-year-old male, was shot and killed on July 12, 2021. The incident unfolded in the early morning hours outside his mother's home on Randle Street.
The man accused of this senseless act was Michael D. Robinson, his mother's 32-year-old boyfriend at the time.
An argument between Robinson and Harris escalated to a fatal point when Robinson allegedly retrieved a shotgun from his car and shot Harris once in the chest. After the shooting, Robinson reportedly moved his vehicle a short distance from the scene. First responders arrived to find Harris, who was pronounced dead at the location.
Following the incident, Michael D. Robinson was arrested and subsequently indicted by a Shelby County grand jury in June 2022. He faced a series of serious charges, including first-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and tampering with evidence. It was also reported that Robinson had a prior conviction for aggravated assault. Due to the nature of the charges and his criminal history, he was held without bond.
