Do you know who murdered Louis Allen in 1964?
Louis Allen, a 44-year-old Black civil rights activist, was murdered on January 31, 1964, in Liberty, Mississippi. Allen, a logger and father, had been a witness to the 1961 killing of fellow activist Herbert Lee by a Mississippi state legislator. Allen initially kept quiet out of fear but later confided to the FBI that Lee's death was a murder and that he had seen it firsthand. This decision to speak out made him a target.
