In the early morning hours of November 6, 2021, the life of 37-year-old Andre Graham was tragically cut short in Savannah, Tennessee. Authorities were called to a residence in the 300 block of Shell Street around 2:30 a.m. following reports of a possible shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Graham deceased from a gunshot wound. The male victim was a resident of Savannah.
The investigation into Graham's death quickly progressed, and a person of interest was identified by the Savannah Police Department. Just days after the fatal shooting, an arrest warrant was issued for 32-year-old Andre Cortez Williams of Bolivar, Tennessee. On November 16, Williams was taken into custody in Jackson, Tennessee, by U.S. Marshals. He faced a string of serious charges, including first-degree murder in the perpetration of a felony, especially aggravated armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
According to Graham's sister, her brother was visiting a friend's home when the incident occurred. She recounted that a man entered the residence announcing a robbery, causing others to scatter. She believes her brother, who was known to carry money, was the intended target of a setup. Following the arrest of Williams, the District Attorney General announced that his office would review the case to determine if seeking the death penalty was appropriate and would consult with Graham's family before making a final decision. The Savannah Police Department, along with the Hardin County Sheriff's Department, the Jackson Police Department, and the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department, were all involved in the investigation that led to the swift arrest of the suspect.
