In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a 37-year-old woman named Shanna Gibson was a mother to her two children, Taliyah and Ju'core.
On the evening of Tuesday, November 30, 2021, police were called to a duplex on Old Lascassas Highway. At around 7:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unresponsive female and discovered Shanna Gibson inside. The Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division determined she had been fatally shot.
The investigation quickly led
detectives to her former boyfriend, 26-year-old Myron Jenkins. The following day, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, police arrested Jenkins in connection with Shanna's death. At the time, investigators were still working to establish a motive for the shooting.
Jenkins was charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $500,000 bond. A hearing in his case was scheduled for December 8, 2021, in Rutherford County General Sessions Court. As of December 2021, the case was proceeding through the legal system.
