A senseless argument at a Memphis Wendy's tragically escalated into a fatal shooting on the evening of December 18, 2021, claiming the life of an employee. Terrance Jermaine Edwards, a 34-year-old Black male, was at his job when a dispute arose with a customer. The conflict led to the customer, identified as Joshua Moore, being asked to wait outside for his food order.
The situation took a deadly turn when Edwards also went outside.
Moore, armed with a firearm, opened fire and shot Edwards multiple times. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, the injuries proved fatal, and Terrance Jermaine Edwards was pronounced dead. The Memphis community was left mourning the loss of a man known to some as a 'Best Burger Guy' and a 'clothing producer.'
The investigation into the homicide quickly pointed to Joshua Moore as the perpetrator. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office took up the case, charging Moore with first-degree murder. The ensuing legal process culminated in a trial where the prosecution, led by ADA Shannon Toon in her first criminal trial, successfully secured a guilty verdict. Joshua Moore was convicted for the murder of Terrance Jermaine Edwards, bringing a measure of justice to a case that highlighted the devastating consequences of gun violence. Family, friends, and community members gathered to honor his memory at a funeral service held on January 8, 2022.
