In the Edgehill neighborhood of Nashville, a life was cut short on a Monday morning in what authorities believe was a drug transaction that turned deadly. Ralos Jones Jr., a 29-year-old male, was shot on March 28, 2022, on 11th Avenue South. He was quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the shooting led authorities to a suspect with remarkable speed. Roderick Orr, 37, was taken into custody in South Nashville in the hours following Jones's death. At the time of his arrest, Orr was found to be in possession of two 9mm handguns, 34 grams of marijuana, 191 methamphetamine pills, two grams of methamphetamines, and $443 in cash. This evidence pointed towards a deeper involvement in illicit activities, corroborating the initial suspicions surrounding the motive for the shooting.
Following his arrest, Roderick Orr was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of Ralos Jones Jr. The charges against him did not end there; he also faced accusations of possessing a weapon during a dangerous drug felony, along with other drug-related offenses.
