In the early evening of May 3, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the ordinary atmosphere of a Popeye's restaurant parking lot in the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. When the chaos subsided, 18-year-old James Richardson Yarbrough, a Black male, was found fatally wounded. The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m., and despite the public setting, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
