In the small community of Nunnelly, Tennessee, a violent encounter in the early morning hours of June 24, 2022, ended the life of Jerry Lee Jennette. The 34-year-old male was discovered with a gunshot wound at a residence located in the 4100 block of Beaver Bend Drive. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Jennette was quickly transported to a Nashville hospital in a critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, on June 25, 2022.
An investigation into the shooting was promptly launched by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, working in conjunction with the Hickman County Sheriff's Office. Their inquiry led them to identify a suspect in the case, a homeless man named Billy Alan Pirkle. Authorities were able to locate Pirkle on the evening of June 24th and take him into custody. Initially, Pirkle was charged with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder and was booked into the Hickman County Jail. Following Jennette's death, it was anticipated that additional charges would be filed.
Jerry Lee Jennette, born on August 30, 1987, in Nashville, was remembered as an adventurous and loving individual who cherished his family, particularly his mother. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed backpacking in the mountains. His death was a significant loss to his surviving family members, including his mother, sister, grandmother, aunts, and cousins.
