In the late hours of a Friday night in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 22-year-old Terry Ray Henderson Jr. was tragically cut short. On August 12, 2022, Henderson was discovered in the middle of the intersection of Kerwin and Battlefield drives in the Raleigh neighborhood, having been shot multiple times. His car, a Nissan Maxima, was missing from the scene, leading authorities to initially investigate the case as a carjacking gone wrong.
The vehicle was located the following day outside an apartment complex in Frayser.
Henderson was a recent college graduate, having earned a degree in Business Administration from Philander Smith College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was employed at Youth Villages and was remembered by those who knew him as a kind and loving individual who was deeply devoted to his family and his faith as a member of the First Baptist Church Broad. His death left his family and the community in profound grief.
For eight months, the investigation into Henderson's murder continued. A significant breakthrough came when authorities arrested 20-year-old Jamaichel Jackson on an unrelated warrant. During questioning, Jackson, who had been a person of interest in the case, confessed to his involvement in Henderson's death. The investigation revealed that Henderson had been communicating with Jackson through a secret email account under the alias 'Amber Love' and had arranged to meet with him on multiple occasions.
Following his confession, Jamaichel Jackson was charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy, and theft of property in connection with the death of Terry Ray Henderson Jr. He was held on a $550,000 bond.
