Jaylan Deshun Talley Sumerall, a 19-year-old African American male from Memphis, TN, tragically lost his life on September 30, 2018. He was fatally shot at the Summit Apartments on Summit Arbors Circle. Jaylan was taken to Baptist East Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident occurred during an attempted robbery by Rayshun Townsend, who tried to rob Jaylan but was met with resistance, leading to a brief struggle before the shooting.
