George Ihor Rudnycky, an 18-year-old male of Ukrainian ethnicity, tragically died on January 17, 1969, in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He was a jitney operator for the transportation department of Westinghouse and was also attending day classes at Goldie Beacom in Wilmington, Delaware. His death was a result of a robbery gone wrong.
On the night of his death, Rudnycky was attacked by two individuals, Raymond Covington and an accomplice, who were attempting to rob him
for drug money. During the altercation, Rudnycky was fatally shot. Covington later pleaded guilty to first-degree murder to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
