A woman is shot just steps from her front door
On an April evening in 2011, Tomika Isabella Swoope, a 19-year-old African-American woman, was walking the short distance back to her Minneapolis home. She had just been to a local convenience store after seeing her cousin off at a bus stop. As she neared her front door on the 3200 block of Columbus Avenue South, the mundane errand took a tragic turn. A dark-colored car approached, and the sound of gunfire suddenly shattered the night's quiet on April 25th.
