Detective Corporal John Robert Christian Jr., aged 35, was a dedicated officer with the Harrisburg Police Bureau in Pennsylvania. On the night of April 18, 1978, he was working a secondary job as a uniformed security officer at a beer distributor. Around 8:30 PM, he was informed of a robbery in progress at the grocery store area of the beer distributor. As he approached the suspects outside the store, he was shot and killed.
