MarÃa Elena Colmenero-Silva, aged 19, tragically lost her life on July 18, 1984, during the infamous San Ysidro McDonald's massacre in San Diego, California. This horrific event, which remains one of the deadliest mass shootings in California's history, saw 41-year-old James Oliver Huberty open fire at a McDonald's restaurant, killing 21 people and injuring 19 others before being fatally shot by a police sniper.
