Robert Budd Dwyer, a 47-year-old American politician, tragically ended his life on January 22, 1987, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dwyer, who served as the Pennsylvania State Treasurer from 1981 until his death, was facing sentencing the following day for charges of bribery, conspiracy to commit fraud, and mail fraud. He was convicted of accepting a bribe from a California-based company, Computer Technology Associates, to award them a multimillion-dollar contract.
