Death by Force

Deputy Sheriff Douglas Paul Hartman, aged 31, was shot and killed on July 7, 1992, while serving a bench warrant on a theft suspect at an apartment complex in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The suspect, who was wanted for theft, committed suicide shortly after shooting Deputy Hartman. Hartman had served with the Lehigh County Sheriff's Office for two years and had previously served with the Lehigh University Police Department. He was survived by his wife.
