David Naim Purvis, a 19-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on December 11, 1997, in Chester, Pennsylvania. Purvis, along with Pedro Rios, had traveled from Newark, New Jersey, to Chester to sell a large quantity of heroin. They were approached by Parris Lavon Harper, who was supposed to cut the heroin but instead attempted to rob Purvis at gunpoint. When Purvis tried to flee, Harper shot him to death.
