David M. 'Pops' Walterick, a 47-year-old male, was tragically killed in a violent home invasion in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on July 15, 2008. The incident unfolded in the early morning hours as Walterick was preparing to leave for his job as a truck driver. He was in his home with his wife when the assailants entered.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the home invasion was a planned robbery.
An acquaintance of Walterick, who was aware that he sold marijuana and had previously robbed him, orchestrated the crime. This individual provided a gun to two other men who carried out the home invasion, while a third person acted as the getaway driver. The orchestrator did not go to the scene because Walterick and his wife knew him.
During the course of the robbery, David Walterick was shot and killed. His wife was present during the attack, and her screams alerted other family members in the house to the tragedy. Following an investigation, three people were charged in connection with the robbery and slaying. Ultimately, the legal process resulted in convictions for those involved. One of the men who entered the house was found guilty by a jury for his role in the homicide. Another man involved in the home invasion death received a significant prison sentence.
