Leon A. Mickens Jr., a 34-year-old African American man from Masontown, Pennsylvania, was tragically shot and killed on August 15, 2011. The incident occurred near Spring Valley and North Water Street in Masontown Borough. Mickens succumbed to his injuries the following day, on his 35th birthday. For years, the case remained unsolved, leaving Mickens' family and the community in a state of unresolved grief and frustration.
