On a late night in June of 2014, the life of 20-year-old Juan Anthony Queen Jr., an African American male, was tragically cut short. The former Chester High School football player, where he had graduated just the year before, was in the first block of Mowry Street in his hometown of Chester, Pennsylvania, when he was fatally shot. This violent act marked the 15th homicide in the city that year.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but Queen was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Chester Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting, seeking to bring justice for the young man who was employed at a Food Lion Market in the neighboring city of Wilmington, Delaware. Despite their efforts and the passage of time, the case has grown cold.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Juan Anthony Queen Jr. The investigation remains open, but authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man known to his loved ones as 'Baba,' while his killer or killers remain at large. The search for answers and accountability in his untimely death continues.
