investigation into Ponzo's death led to the identification of Rashawn Walker, an 18-year-old suspect, who was already wanted on two unrelated warrants. Walker turned himself in to the police on November 10, 2015, accompanied by his attorney. Despite his surrender, no charges had been filed against him at that time. Walker maintained his innocence, claiming he was not involved in the shooting.
The community deeply mourned the loss of Ponzo, describing him as a wonderful, kind person who was always willing to help others. His funeral was attended by many friends and parishioners who remembered him fondly.
