On January 19, 2016, 23-year-old Jose Alberto Concepcion was found dead along a dirt road off North Park Drive in Hazle Township, Hazleton, PA. The circumstances surrounding his death were initially unclear, but it was quickly determined to be a homicide. Concepcion, who was of Hispanic ethnicity, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head, and the county coroner later determined he had been shot a total of seven times.
