In the late afternoon of a Friday in Chester, Pennsylvania, the life of 22-year-old Donte Carlton Murray was tragically cut short. On February 3, 2017, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 900 block of Pennell Street. There, they found Murray lying in the road. He was rushed to a nearby medical center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The initial response from law enforcement uncovered evidence of a chaotic scene, with shell casings from both.
45-caliber and 9mm handguns scattered across the pavement. Witnesses provided a crucial early lead, describing a gray two-door Honda Accord speeding away from the area immediately following the gunshots.
The investigation into Donte Murray's death pressed on, and a significant breakthrough came five days later when officers located the suspected getaway car. Inside the vehicle, they discovered two individuals. One of the men, 19-year-old Yordanie Radamas Camacho, was arrested on firearms violations when police found him with a 9mm Ruger that had its serial number illegally removed. The other man, Breon Matthew Pringle, also 19, fled from the scene as officers found another handgun, a 9mm Beretta, concealed in the back seat. This discovery was a turning point in the case, providing investigators with the physical evidence they needed.
The connection to the murder was solidified when forensic analysis confirmed that the 9mm shell casings from the scene of Donte Murray's death were fired from the Ruger handgun found in Camacho's possession. This ballistic match, combined with other evidence gathered during the investigation, led to charges being filed against both men. In July 2017, Breon Matthew Pringle and Yordanie Radamas Camacho were arrested and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, conspiracy, and other related weapons offenses for their alleged roles in the shooting. Pringle was taken into custody, while Camacho was already incarcerated on the prior firearms charges.
