Meliek Rashad Hemingway, a 22-year-old male of African American ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on Easter morning, April 1, 2018, in Pittsburgh's East Hills neighborhood. Hemingway was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when Pittsburgh police responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alert.
