Robert Ronald Litz Jr., a 42-year-old Caucasian male from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, tragically lost his life on May 19, 2018. His death was the result of a gunshot wound to the head, sustained during an apparent game of Russian Roulette. The incident occurred in an apartment across the hall from where his acquaintance, 55-year-old Randy Malcolm Hill, resided. According to Lock Haven City Police, the fatal event took place around 3 a.m.
on Sunday morning.
Authorities reported that Hill handed Robert Litz Jr. a loaded firearm with the intention of playing Russian Roulette. Litz then pulled the trigger, resulting in his immediate death. Hill later told police that he had been drinking with Litz and that when he exited the bathroom, Litz was holding the gun and expressed a desire to play the dangerous game. Hill claimed that Litz put the gun to his head and fired, causing the fatal wound. Hill stated that he attempted to catch Litz as he fell and subsequently called 911.
Following the incident, Hill was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and reckless endangerment. The firearm involved in the shooting, a Ruger Security Six revolver. 357 Magnum, was found with its serial number removed. Additionally, police discovered a white powder residue, a piece of steel wool, and a notebook containing names and dollar amounts, which appeared to be a ledger for drug transactions. Officers also found a prescription bottle belonging to Hill that originally contained 180 Hydrocodone pills, but only about 50 remained.
Hill was arraigned by District Magistrate John Maggs and was subsequently held at the Clinton County Correctional Facility on a $25,000 monetary bail. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Robert Litz Jr. continued as authorities examined the evidence and statements provided by witnesses.
