In the winter of 2019, the city of Chester was struck by a targeted act of violence that claimed the life of 28-year-old Daon Womack, a Black / African American male. On the evening of February 12, Womack was outside a home on Bethel Road. As he approached his girlfriend's residence, he was fatally shot at close range. The attack was swift and left no one else injured. When authorities arrived, Womack was pronounced dead at the scene.
