Joseph Alan Kelosky, a 33-year-old male, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of March 16, 2019, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Double D's Cafe on East Washington Street. Responding officers discovered Kelosky, who was from Wampum, with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second individual, a female, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the same incident and was also taken to the hospital.
The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute that began inside the bar. According to police, the conflict originated between two women over a Facebook post and escalated into a physical altercation. The fight then moved to the parking lot, where other patrons, including the suspect and Kelosky, became involved. It was reported that Kelosky did not know the man who shot him.
Later that same day, police arrested 29-year-old David A. Williams of New Castle in connection with the fatal shooting. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and other related offenses. Following his arrest, Williams was held in the Lawrence County Jail. The investigation suggested that both Williams and Kelosky became embroiled in the larger altercation that had spilled out of the bar. According to the police chief, Williams claimed that his gun fell from his waistband during the fight and that both he and Kelosky reached for it. Surveillance footage from both inside and outside the bar captured the events leading up to the shooting.
