was the victim of a targeted attack. Matthew Lambert, a 24-year-old man from Baldwin, PA, was later identified as the mastermind behind the murder. Lambert had been stalking his ex-girlfriend, Chassity Lubawski, and was enraged when he discovered she was dating Valorie. Lambert hired three individuals to carry out the shooting, offering them money and drugs as payment. Two of the hired individuals, Jerquay Atkins and Onaje Dickinson, were involved in the shooting, while the third, Dickinson, died in a subsequent gunfight with police.
Matthew Lambert was arrested and charged with third-degree murder, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 22 to 54 years in prison. The case highlighted the dangers of stalking and the severe consequences of retaliatory violence.
