On the evening of May 30, 2019, a tragic series of events unfolded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, culminating in the death of 22-year-old Tyreek Shyheim Gardner. The night began with a confrontation on the 300 block of East Fulton Street, where Gardner was approached by Ryan Rivera and Brian Paltan. An attempted punch by Paltan sent Gardner fleeing, sparking a foot chase through the city streets. As Gardner ran, Rivera and Paltan pursued him, firing shots that did not find their mark.
