She was also an advocate for Autism awareness and Stroke Awareness.

Her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Croop, fatally shot her before taking his own life with the same weapon. Tara's son, Chadwick Grob Jr., was also injured in the incident, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Holly Rule, Croop's ex-girlfriend, was found to have illegally supplied the gun to Croop, which led to her being sentenced to prison for her involvement.
