On February 3, 2020, at approximately 1 p.m., 23-year-old Kevin Hall, a Black male from Pittsburgh, was walking along Winton Street in Wilkinsburg with a 5-year-old relative. As they neared the intersection of Laketon Road and Winton Street, a white, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota, approached them. A man with short dreadlocks, wearing a brown beanie, exited the vehicle and shot Hall multiple times. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Hall succumbed to his injuries.
The child sustained minor injuries as Hall attempted to pull him out of the line of fire. Two good Samaritans assisted the child until emergency crews arrived. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle, heading toward Penn Hills. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Allegheny County Police tip line.
As of March 2020, no arrests had been made in connection with Kevin Hall's death. The investigation remained active, with police seeking assistance from the public to identify and apprehend the suspect.
In a separate incident, another individual named Kevin Hall, a 25-year-old from Apple Valley, was arrested on March 10, 2020, for the fatal shooting of a 7-Eleven clerk during a robbery in Whittier, California. This case is unrelated to the Kevin Hall from Pittsburgh.
