On March 10, 2020, 15-year-old Tayvonne Avery was tragically shot and killed while playing basketball at a court in Chester, Pennsylvania. Tayvonne, a male student of African American ethnicity, was a member of the junior varsity basketball team at Chester High School. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., when an unidentified gunman opened fire, killing Tayvonne and another 15-year-old, Edward Harmon, at the scene.
