On September 1, 2013, 25-year-old Jose Gutierrez-Peredia was shot and killed at the Mariposa Apartments in Denver, Colorado, located on West Mississippi Avenue. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m., and police quickly identified Victor Baltazar, then 39, as the prime suspect in the shooting.
