Bing Liu, a 37-year-old Chinese-born American scientist and coronavirus researcher, was found shot to death in his home in Pittsburgh, PA, on May 2, 2020. Liu was a research assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was working on significant findings related to the cellular mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 infection. His death was initially speculated to be connected to his research, but investigations revealed it was the result of a murder-suicide.
