On October 8, 2020, 20-year-old Saheed Gayle, an African American male, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Monroeville Mall in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Gayle, who worked as a salesperson at a shoe cleaning kiosk in the mall, was involved in a verbal altercation with Lawrence Mark Murphy, 21, and a woman.
