Ebony Sequita Pack, a 30-year-old woman from Lansdale, PA, tragically lost her life on November 28, 2020. She was fatally shot while seated in her car at the intersection of East Hancock Street and Church Road. The incident occurred around 10 p.m., and Pack was pronounced dead at Abington-Lansdale Hospital later that night.
Authorities arrested Ricky Vance, 52, of Philadelphia, in connection with Pack's death. Vance was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation revealed that Vance had been following Pack in his Cadillac before the shooting. Surveillance footage showed Vance's car pulling up alongside Pack's vehicle, and several shots were fired through the driver's side door. Vance's car was later found to have gunshot residue on the passenger side, consistent with the angle of the shooting.
Despite Vance's arrest, the investigation continued, as authorities believed he did not act alone. Cell phone records indicated a connection between Vance and Pack's partner's ex-boyfriend, who had a history of violent incidents and threats against Pack's partner. A protection from abuse order had been issued against the ex-boyfriend.
In September 2022, a jury convicted Ricky Vance and Chong Ling Dan, 50, of first-degree murder in Pack's killing. The trial revealed that Dan had orchestrated a "murder for hire" plot, enlisting Vance and another accomplice, Terrence Marche, 48, to carry out the crime. The motive was linked to a debt owed by Pack's partner, Jasmine Stokes, to Dan. Both Vance and Dan were sentenced to life in prison.
The case remains a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of violence and the importance of justice for victims and their families.
