Stanley B. Jimson Jr., a 17-year-old male of mixed ethnicity, was a senior at Hazleton Area High School with a promising future ahead of him. An active and well-liked student, he participated in wrestling, football, and track and was even a member of the school's cheerleading squad for the powder-puff game. He had made a commitment to join the U.S. Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic and was scheduled to leave in July 2022. He was known for his infectious smile, goofy jokes, and a heart of gold, often bringing home stray animals.
Tragically, Stanley's life was cut short on the morning of March 6, 2022. He was attending an underage drinking party at a residence on South Wyoming Street in Hazleton. During the party, an uninvited guest, identified as 20-year-old Frangel Garcia Andujar of Freeland, became involved in an altercation. Witnesses reported that Garcia Andujar produced a concealed handgun and fired multiple shots into the crowd. Stanley was struck in the upper torso. He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, where he succumbed to his injuries. Four other juveniles were also wounded in the shooting but survived.
Following the incident, Frangel Garcia Andujar was arrested and is facing a number of serious charges, including criminal homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was taken into custody and is being held without bail at a county correctional facility. The legal proceedings in the case against Garcia Andujar have experienced several delays to accommodate additional legal representation and the exchange of discovery documents. The prosecution has been presenting evidence that includes photos from the crime scene, autopsy reports, and testimony from witnesses as the community awaits justice for Stanley and the other victims of the shooting.
