On February 9, 2013, Tyler Jamison, a 19-year-old resident of Oakland, California, was shot and killed in the Laurel District. Jamison, described as a friendly and witty young man, was among the early victims of gun violence in Oakland that year, becoming the ninth homicide in the city for 2013.
