In the early morning hours of Friday, June 17, 2022, the life of 17-year-old Malik A. Bell Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short on a Philadelphia street. Just after 12:40 a.m., Philadelphia Police officers were called to the 2500 block of South 61st Street, where they discovered Bell lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at 1:06 a.m.
