Lameer Boyd, an 18-year-old Black male, was killed in a hail of gunfire on the night of July 18, 2022. The incident occurred near the intersection of 52nd Street and Larchwood Avenue, where Boyd was mercilessly shot multiple times. Responding Philadelphia Police officers found him unresponsive in the street, suffering from numerous gunshot wounds.
They rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced deceased.
The sheer brutality of the attack sent shockwaves through the community and left his family devastated. Reports indicated that over 50 bullets were fired at the scene, with 34 striking Boyd. Tragically, he was an expecting father and was scheduled to begin a program for young fathers the day after he was killed. His death marked the 300th homicide in Philadelphia that year, a grim milestone that highlighted the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence.
