In the morning hours of August 30, 2022, a violent scene unfolded at a gas station on North Broad Street in Philadelphia. It was there that 38-year-old Dysaun Kershaw, a male resident of the city, was fatally wounded in a sudden and targeted attack.
The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the gas station, located in the 2800 block of the busy thoroughfare.
Gunmen reportedly ambushed the vehicle Kershaw was in and opened fire, striking him multiple times throughout his body. Medical personnel were called to the scene, but Kershaw's injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The violence of the morning also left a 14-year-old boy wounded. The teenager was a passenger in the back of the same car and was struck once in the arm by the gunfire. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition. A second child who was also in the backseat of the vehicle was thankfully not injured during the shooting.
As of the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Philadelphia police had not made any arrests in connection with the deadly assault on Dysaun Kershaw. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the individuals responsible for the ambush and bring them to justice.
